Follow-up

Had a follow up with the doc today and got my surgical wrap replaced. One more week and I’ll get the sutures out and will start physical therapy.
I’m pretty sure I mentioned that not only did my doc remove my ridiculously large screw but that it had damaged some of my tendon. The screw had wrapped itself around strands of the tendon so she had to cut out the “dead” parts and whip-stitch it together. This is going to extend my recovery by a …

Foot Freedom!

I unexpectantly got my cast cut off yesterday, and it was possibly the greatest day ever (of the last three months).
The doc said my x-rays look really good, like the bone was completely healed. Although there is no way to tell between being healed and tightly fused together with the screw, the only way to know for sure is to start putting weight on it.
Now I’m castless and in a walking velcro boot!

NASTY!

WARNING: These pics are definitely pretty gross! The black stip is dried blood and my leg was covered in wrap adhesive!
Here are the first looks of my bare foot and incision since my surgery on 11 Feb. I got the stitches out, the wound cleaned a little bit, and a hard cast put back on.
The doc says things look good. I’ll be in the hard cast for another 8 weeks before moving on to the walking boot for about 4 weeks.
I don’t really have any pain to speak of, except …
