Dunbar Cave: The Final Adventure

On the final day before deploying to the Land of the Afghans, Britt and I went on one of our characteristic adventures. In the heart of Clarksville hides Dunbar Cave recreation area. Never missing a moment to snap a few pics, and needing an excuse to break in my new boots, I grabbed the Nikon and we hit the trail.
The flood line from last week’s disaster was visible throughout the park. Giant trees found their way up 25-foot hills and the stone walls were striped with dirt.
I can’t wait to …

Washed Up

Here are my pics from the Great Tennessee Flood of 2010!!
Some of you know that my townhouse is at the top of a hill, right above a Gary Matthews car dealership. Well, the road next to the dealership is also the only road accessible to our hilltop subdivision. That road entrance is also at low ground, about 100 meters from the Cumberland River. Signs of Spring

The Gateway to the New South, Clarks-Vegas, is showing signs of thawing. After Brittany doubled my heating bill in January (muahaha) while I was gone, my February bill is down 15 percent, with me here. The Peculiar Forest

Here are some pictures from my latest photo adventure. My neighbor, Sara, and I went to Land Between the Lakes National Park for some weekend hiking and Nikon exercising. I figure anyone can take a good picture when the forest is full of bustling fall colors. The challenge would be to find great shots when everything has already started to die!

STEEL November

Click on the image below to see the full gallery of BOLDSTEEL firing pictures.
The Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise took place from 02-10 November, and we supported it with artillery from 07-10 November while our sister battery fired from the 2nd to the 7th. This involved the maneuver units in our brigade to go through a battle scenario with live ammunition, sort of like running football plays at full speed with your starting offense. And when they needed artillery support, they called us, the King of Battle!
The battery was located …

BOLDSTEEL

I finally got to my unit last week and am now the Fire Direction Officer (FDO) for 1st platoon, Bravo Battery “BOLDSTEEL”, 2-320th Field Artillery Regiment “BALLS OF THE EAGLE” in the 101st. The pics are from our payday inspection this past Friday (historically in the Army the first Friday of the month was held “payday activities” to include a uniform inspection. We also had a Battery barbecue in the afternoon).
My transition into BOLDSTEEL has gone very well, but with the flood of new tasks and information being like an …
