Giving Thanks

I’m grateful for all of the well-wishes I’ve been getting from friends and family! People have been very concerned with my state and interested in my progress. I have a long road ahead I fear, and it’s nice to know other people are there to back me up.
As a new, partial handicap I have also experienced a consistent outpouring of support from my fellow soldiers. Every time I’m “walking” (more like crutching) to class, people are constantly and heartfeltly (yes I made that word up) offering to help me out. …

Army Snow Day

Here in Oklahoma a winter storm moved through the area and layered Lawton/Ft. Sill with about a quarter inch of ice. Well Lawton is no Chicago, so everyone ever-fearful of road conditions wanted to stay home. Even the night before, when there was a slight drizzle on my way home from work, people were driving like 15 under the speed limit. It’s a little ridiculous.

But no, really, it was pretty dangerous yesterday and early today. I wonder what the standards are that makes the General close the ENTIRE post??

The shamed governor of Illinois just gave a press conference regarding his denied rights to due process in his impending impeachment.
And my initial response is that someone must have switched his medication with sugar pills or opiates, because that was the loopiest thing I’ve ever seen on the news.
After a radio show this morning where he declared the day he got arrested to the “Pearl Harbor” for his family, he held a press conference claiming he was being impeached by the Senate only because there were senate leaders pushing for …

Foot update

Well I finally got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon yesterday. There is a slight change in the diagnosis: apparently I had a stress fracture at some point, and stressed it until the bone basically broke. So after discussing my options with the doc I got my very first cast! It covers everything below my right knee.
There are two treatment options. I can let my foot heal naturally, or I can have it fixed surgically (by putting a pin through the parts of the bone so that they heal together).
