Lately I’ve undertaken the epic quest of enriching my life with more metal. And on this quest I have uncovered an arsenal of gut-wrenching, guitar-slashing, bearded bands. I’ve decided to dedicate this section of The Spartzine to those Gods of War who make us bang our heads and tear through metal in the weight room.

Amon Amarth is one of those bands.

Twilight of the Thunder God

This Swedish Black Metal band combines aggresive extreme metal with unique growling vocals. I haven’t heard many singers with as deep of a growl, especially while maintaining distinction in the lyrics.

They have also been classified under the sub genre of symphonic black metal, and the lyrical progression of the guitar proves worthy.
